Rep League Basketball Program
Difference Between
Rep and House League Programs
The Rep Program consists of 2 practices or games per week and about 4 or 5 weekend tournaments between Dec – April while house League is only 1 ˝ hrs per week on Saturdays. Therefore demanding more time of a player, and the parents' as well.
Players will develop more quickly because the game is played at a much higher level and is more physically demanding especially at the “AA” or “AAA” level. Playing time at the Rep level (except for Novice, Atom & Major Atom divisions) is dependent on several factors (closeness of the score, disciplinary action, and a player must earn the right to play by coming to practice) which will be determined by the coaches. While house League everyone plays equal time regardless.
Basketball Ontario Playing Rules
Novice, Atom and Major Atom
Basketball Ontario has specific playing rules at the Novice, Atom and Major Atom levels.
In Novice (under 9) the players all play equal time.
In atom (Under 10) and major atom (Under 11) the players play equal time with free substitution in the last shift of the game.
Bantam, Major Bantam, Midget, Major Midget, Juvenile, Junior
In all these divisions, the players do not have to play equal time and the coaches can substitute at their sole discretion.
The coaches play their players based on several factors that the game might present itself and they will try to maximize the playing time for all their players.
Rep Team Selection
Players are invited to try out in their respective age group, The individual coaches will pick their teams from the players who attended the tryouts and the player selection is the sole responsibility of the coaches.
Player Registration
Each player must complete a Basketball Ontario registration form and provide a copy of their birth certificate if they are new players. Once a player signs with MUMBA, the player can’t play with any other team unless released by MUMBA. At the end of the season each player is released from MUMBA and is able to join any team he wishes for the next season.
MUMBA’s Expectations
For The Players
Players are expected to attend all practices, games and tournaments with a positive attitude, players who fail to fulfill these expectations may face disciplinary action or lack of playing time. Players must always remember that they are representing the MUMBA Organization and must at all times abide by the Basketball Ontario’s "The Code of Fair Play for Players".
For The Parents
Parents are responsible for bringing their sons or daughters to practices, games and tournaments by providing transportation and on a timely basis. Parents are also reminded that they too represent MUMBA and any bad behavior by any parent can be detrimental to MUMBA. Parents should always provide positive encouragement to all the players on the team.
Rep League Program Cost
The cost of our Rep Program is higher compare to the House League program.Teams are expected to operate at a breakeven level. MUMBA will accommodate any reasonable requests for scheduled payments for the Rep fee.
